Lose Your Heart

“Once I caught a glimpse of a girl standing knee-deep in the crinkling grass of a sunlit plain. She turned her head slowly, almost lethargically, as she surveyed the view. You would think her vision would be unlimited in the middle of such a massive plain, but it was almost as if the fields sloped upwards from her feet, obscuring far-away horizons. She didn’t seem sad, but I could tell she wasn’t happy. If it were possible to feel absolutely nothing, I would have believed therein lay her plight. There were other people with her, but while she conversed freely with them, she never stretched her soul out to theirs. She was utterly devoid of passion, simply standing and looking at the world through unseeing eyes.
